VTEC hosts and supports events that promote the local Aboriginal community. Recent examples include a BBQ for VTEC graduates and trainees to meet former Perth Wildcats captain Ricky Grace and 2007 Young Australian of the Year and Indigenous youth advocate Tania Major as well as the Childcare Links Cakes, Cookies and Clowns event.

VTEC staff travel to Aboriginal communities which have negotiated or are negotiating land access agreements with Fortescue to run information sessions about VTEC and its training programs, recruitment and business development.

VTEC also plays a role in career expos held throughout the Pilbara region.
